Dr. King here pays tribute to the great singer Marian Anderson, who was not permitted to perform in Constitution Hall in Washington DC in 1939 because of her race. Instead, Anderson performed “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” before a crowd of 75,000 people on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial — the very place where Dr. King delivered his “I Have A Dream” speech 24 years later, with Anderson in attendance
